  16. I've got a problem with my SCSI-CD-ROM-Drive. It's a Sanyo CRD 4-speed-drive
  17. placed in an external SCSI-Tower. In my A2000 works an
  18. Evolution-SCSI2-Controller by Off Limits (formerly produced by Macro
  19. Systems) with the actual ROM which - as Off Limits told me- supports
  20. CD-ROM drives.

  22. But it doesn't work!

  24. I tried several configurations: (The CD-ROM-drive is terminated.)
  25.  
  26. a) If the ID of the CD-ROM-drive is greater than that of my internal
  27.    Quantum LPS52 harddisc (ID 0), the computer boots without to scan
  28.    any higher IDs than that of the harddisc.
  29.    As I thought of wrong termination I even took off the terminators
  30.    from the controller instead that from the harddisc, but I think the other
  31.    way round is all right. In addition it behaved just the same way.

  33. b) If the ID of the CD-ROM-drive is lower than that of the internal
  34.    harddisc the controller states 'Error' while scanning the ID of the
  35.    CD-ROM-drive. If I put in a CD before booting the controller states
  36.    nothing but stops working while scanning the ID.

  38. c) I took the harddisk out of my computer and connected the
  39.    CD-ROM internal to the controller (with ID 0). But nothing changed
  40.    to a) and b).

  42. d) I checked the TEMP POWER Signal, which is set by the CD-ROM-drive but
  43.    not by the controller. Is this all right?

  45. e) I connected the SCSI-Tower with the CD-ROM-drive to a NeXT-Station and
  46.    it works fine. Plug & Play! In addition I tried another SCSI-cable
  47.    but without success. Seems that SCSI-Tower and cable do work.

  49. f) At last I put the harddisk into the SCSI-Tower and the CD-ROM-drive
  50.    into my computer. But it was all the same to a).

  52. Does anybody have any idea what I can do to get it working or
  53. does anybody use an Evolution (or MultiEvolution) controller with
  54. the Sanyo CRD quad-speed-drive?

  56. If there is no solution to my problem, I would like to know, which
  57. SCSI-controllers works with my CD-ROM-drive.
